Credits
Nobody can do this today. Card fees eat a sub-dollar sale alive. Credits fix it, and the artist keeps 93%.
One top-up. Spend it on any artist on Hypetize. Never expires.
PAYING BY CARD
A fan buys a 32¢ track
This is why nobody sells a song for under a dollar. The payment rails make it arithmetically pointless.
PAYING WITH CREDITS
Same fan, same 32¢ track
The card was charged once, when they topped up. Everything after that is just moving numbers.
That's 30 times more money to the artist, on exactly the same sale.
How it works
STEP 01
$10, $25, whatever they want. One card transaction, one card fee, and it's done. Their balance is theirs — dollar for dollar, no funny money, no exchange rate.
STEP 02
32 cents for a track. A dollar for a demo. Fifteen for a queue slot. Twenty to hype someone on a livestream. Across any artist on Hypetize, no card re-entry.
STEP 03
The money's already in the system, so there's nothing to authorise and nothing to wait for. It lands in the artist's balance the moment the fan taps.
One balance pays for a song, a queue slot, a hype, a shirt, a ticket. A fan who tops up for one artist can spend the rest on another — and that's the point. Money moves between creative people instead of leaking out to card networks on every two-dollar transaction.
What artists can finally do
Not what the payment processor forces you to charge. A loose demo isn't worth $1.99 and you know it — but 40 cents, a thousand times, is real money.
| What you're selling | Price | Artist keeps | By card they'd keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| A loose demo | $0.25 | $0.23 | nothing |
| A single | $0.32 | $0.30 | $0.01 |
| A B-side | $0.75 | $0.70 | $0.43 |
| A proper single | $1.99 | $1.85 | $1.63 |
| An album | $9.99 | $9.29 | $8.70 |
Credits take our standard 7% at the moment they're spent. Nothing else comes off, because the card was charged once at top-up.
Nobody deliberates over 32 cents. It's below the thinking threshold — the same reason a mobile game sells you a hat. Volume replaces price.
Voice memos, rough takes, the version with the verse you cut, beats you'll never use. A catalogue of things currently sitting on a hard drive earning zero.
30 cents from one person is what roughly 75 streams pay. One tap versus seventy-five plays — and you get their email either way.
For fans
Every artist on Hypetize takes the same credit. Buy a track, jump a queue, hype someone mid-stream — one balance, one tap, no checkout.
ADD CREDIT
Dollar for dollar. Never expires. Refundable if unspent within 30 days.
THAT BUYS YOU
Straight about it
A dollar in is a dollar of credit. No bonus tiers designed to confuse you, no exchange rate, no expiry. If you top up $25 and spend nothing, ask and we send it back within 30 days.
The card fee is the same whether you load $5 or $50, so bigger top-ups are better for everyone. We suggest $25. We're not going to pretend that suggestion is purely for your benefit.
That means we're holding your money, and we take that seriously. Balances are held separately from operating funds and are always yours, not ours.
Questions
You can, for anything over a few dollars. Under that, card fees eat the sale — a 32-cent purchase costs 31 cents to process, so the artist gets a penny. Credits exist purely to make small amounts work.
No. Never. Expiring credit is a way of taking money from people who trusted you, and we're not doing it.
Yes — unspent credit is refundable to your card within 30 days of topping up. Email us. After that it stays as credit, which never expires.
Any artist on Hypetize. Your balance isn't tied to whoever you topped up for — that's the whole point of it.
7% when the credit is spent, same as everywhere else. Nothing at top-up. Founding members pay 0% on their first $25,000 of sales a year, so for them the artist keeps the lot.
No. The money is already in the system, so it hits their balance the instant you tap. No authorisation, no settlement delay, no thirty-day distributor cycle.
$10. We suggest $25 because the card fee is the same either way, so more of it ends up with artists instead of the banks.
Credits are what turn a price nobody can charge into a business. Have a look at how it works.
